Visitors

Welcome to Faith United Presbyterian Church!

We invite you to worship with us at Faith United Presbyterian Church on Sunday mornings. Below are some frequently asked questions & answers about Faith Church.

Please check our website for details about other activities that go on within the church: Bible study, small group activities, youth and children’s activities, quilting & knitting groups, men’s prayer breakfast, dart ball, family fun nights, special events and more.  Some activities are on a weekly or monthly basis while other events are annual or crop up when we get a good idea!

What time is the Sunday service?

Sunday Morning Worship Service is at 11:00 AM (10:00 AM during the summer schedule). You will be greeted at the door by an usher who will hand you a bulletin.  The bulletin outlines what happens in the worship service and also lets you know what’s going on during the week at Faith.

Come early to meet folks and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and light refreshments in our “Gathering Area” right outside the sanctuary.

What is the worship service like?

Our morning worship is a mix of traditional and contemporary in an informal and warm atmosphere. The choir surprises us weekly with a variety of music. The Children’s Choir performs regularly. An attractive power point presentation is a pivotal part of the service.

Do you offer Sunday School Classes (Christian Education)?

Yes! We have Sunday school classes for children and youth from kindergarten through senior high.  These classes run from September through May.

We also have adult classes available.

During these months, Sunday school starts at 10 AM and Children’s Choir rehearsal is held at 9:30 AM.   There are also other educational groups and activities for various ages throughout the year. Check the website for more information on these.

How do I /we dress for worship?

Dress is casual for worship. Rest assured, you will fit in just fine!

Is there anything special for young children during the worship service?

Early on during the worship service, children are invited up front for a “Time With Young Disciples”. This is a brief message / lesson with prayer (3 - 5 minutes).

Young children staying through the service are welcome to borrow an ‘activity bag’ to use during worship. The bags are located on a table in the “gathering space” next to the nursery room (to your right as you enter the church on the top level of the building).

Is there childcare during the service?

Yes!  We have a nursery room for children up to age 5-6. It is right outside the sanctuary and is “staffed” by adult church members who volunteer every Sunday morning.

How accessible is the church?

Our building is completely accessible.  We have no stairs coming into the building from the top level; you enter right into the gathering space and sanctuary. And there are no stairs, or curbs, entering the building through the lower level doors into our social hall. We also have an elevator. If you enter the building through our lower parking lot entrance, the elevator is to the left as you come through the doors.  There are several handicapped parking spaces in both our upper and lower parking areas.

What are the books in the Gathering Area?

Please provide us with your name and address in these books if you are visiting!

They are on a stand by the front door and near the stairs leading to our lower level.  There is also a “Visitors’ Center” in the Gathering Area right outside the doors leading onto the sanctuary. This piece of furniture is to the left of the sanctuary doors and has our monthly newsletter along with some other information for visitors – even a special treat for you!

Where should I park?

Other than several handicapped parking spaces in each parking area, there are no special parking spaces. Park wherever you like.  We have two paved lots: one in front of the church building and one behind the building.

What is the building lay-out like? (Where are things located?)

Our building is fairly new. The upper level with the front & main entrance houses the sanctuary and a large, open “Gathering Area” (where we hold our popular coffee hour prior to the worship service). Restrooms and the nursery are directly off this space – all to the right, as you enter the front doors.

Our lower level is accessed from the lower parking lot. Right inside the back doors, you can either take the stairs up to the sanctuary or the elevator (through double doors and to the left).  The lower level houses a large social hall, the pastor’s office, other staff offices, kitchen and restrooms.
